Assisting with Long-Term Support
| As long as there are irresponsible and uncaring humans in our communities, there will always be an ongoing need to finance animal welfare organizations and their dedicated work for the homeless, abused, and abandoned pets. As president of the Paws Society, I urge you to consider long-term support through provisions in your Will or creation of a dedicated ongoing humane fund with your Estate planning. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Squeeky Cat

| Over the years, my wife Cathy and I have been especially blessed with having two pets of exceptional character of the feline persuasion. First, Miss Poo showed up on our doorstep one Thanksgiving Day to share a meal. We welcomed her and gave her the best of care, but the feline leukemia virus innoculations seemed to get the best of her. We were fortunate, though, to have her companionship for 12 years before she passed on. Miss Poo was a tough act to follow, but then we found Squeeky Cat at the local shelter. She had been abandoned as a young kitten along a rural road. Luckily, someone cared enough to take her to the shelter where she spent two weeks before being discovered by us. Right away, her quiet squeak and outstretched paw caught our attention. Both Cathy and I are partial to tiger-stripped shorthairs, and her seemingly mild manner, fit our search for another companion. Come to find out, her manner was but a facade. I highly doubt that too many others would tolerate her attitude, but she truly does have character, and has since found a good home with us. We can handle only one pet at a time, as it seems that the ones we take in have little tolerance for any competition. So, in recognition of these special companionships, we are in the process of planning the Miss Poo-Squeeky Cat Fund to provide for ongoing feline needs in Northeast Oregon long after we are gone. |
